Puppet Song:

Do you know what fishies do, what fishies do, what fishies do?
Do you know what fishies do?
They swim and swim and swim!!!

I have another friend here – the SHARK!

Do you know what sharks do, what sharks do, what sharks do?
Do you know what sharks do?
They dive and dive and dive!!!

And here is my friend the blue WHALE!

Do you know what whales do, what whales do, what whales do?
Do you know what whales do?
They splash and splash and splash!!!

(tune: Do You Know the Muffin Man)

Books We Read:
Leo Can Swim- McQuinn ( I shortened the text a little but it worked fine!)
Who Can Swim- Braun (we waved hello to each animal in the story)

Flannel Story: Clownfish, Clownfish, What Do You See?

We sang a sea creature version of Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? to the tune of Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.

Clownfish, Clownfish, what do you see?
I see a Red Lobster looking at me!

Red Lobster, Red Lobster what do you see?
I see a Green Crab looking at me....

A nice group today, lots of participation. Some chatting so I skipped my drum song. About 25 babies.

baby & me: having a ball!

Mystery Box: Inside our mystery box, we found three BALLS! Let’s count them together! One - two - three!!!

Books We Read:
Baby Loves Sports- Duo Press
Where is Baby’s Beach Ball- Katz
Circles – Yonezu (no time! saving for upcoming CIRCLES themed class)

Flannel Story: Little Ball, BIG BALL!

See the awesome Flannel Friday post HERE.

A nice group with tons of participation today despite the gray skies and humid weather outside. Our group was a little bit smaller than usual so I brought out the parachute just to try something different and everyone LOVED it! Hoping to work it back into my regular rotation again but sometimes I get intimidated by the large size of the group. It was a perfect lead in to "We're Marching to the Drum" because many people were already standing!

We're marching to the drum, we're marching to the drum
hi ho the derri-o, we're marching to the drum!

We're marching very fast....
We're marching very slooooowwwww...

Then, I repeat it one more time because I like to end on fast instead of slow! I love my lollipop drum; it's very colorful and eye-catching plus the sound is not annoying at all. The babies like it too!

Image result for lollipop drum,
I purchased one from Amazon long long ago & it was a great purchase!

flannel friday: Bear at the Beach

This is my friend Bear. Can you say hello to her?

Hi, Bear!

She is going to the beach today! Let's help her get ready!

What should Bear wear to the beach – a snowsuit OR her swimsuit?

(I held up the items and let the kids decide. sometimes they needed a little help!)

What will Bear need at the beach – her mittens or her sunglasses?

Will Bear want to warm up with hot cocoa at the beach or cool off with a super duper ice cream cone?

What will Bear play with at the beach – her beach ball or her sled?

Looks like Bear is ready for a fun day in the sun!

I based this adorable felt story on one i found HERE at Storytime Thoughts.

We read books about the beach and for our craft, we made Beach Bear puppets!

Kids colored a card stock bear, then attached a beach ball & popsicle stick.

For more on this program and a link to the beach bear coloring page, check out my post HERE.

Thanks for reading!

Craft: Beach Bears

Kids colored a card stock bear, then attached a beach ball & popsicle stick to make a cute summer puppet!

This was a fun summer program! The stories were perfect and everyone loved the flannel story. I absolutely loved the beach bear puppets, they were so bright and colorful. I printed the bears from this awesome site HEREI printed the beach balls on white cardstock using my color printer.

Today was Patron Appreciation Day here so we had cookies for all our patrons. I made a short announcement before the program thanking everyone for coming to our library so it was a really happy day. Two pretty big groups today: about 26 in the early session and 19 in the second one.

baby & me: white & black

Mystery Box: Inside our mystery box, we found a sheep! What does a sheep say?

Puppet Song: Baa Baa Black Sheep

Baa baa black sheep, have you any wool?
Yes sir, yes sir, three bags full.
One for my master, one for my dame
One for the little boy who lives down the lane.
Baa baa black sheep, have you any wool?
Yes sir, yes sir, three bags full.

This little puppet is so cute, it reverses to a white sheep so we sang the song again:

Baa baa WHITE sheep, have you any wool?
Yes sir, yes sir, three bags full.
One for my master, one for my dame
One for the little GIRL who lives down the lane.
Baa baa black sheep, have you any wool?
Yes sir, yes sir, three bags full.

Books We Read:
I Kissed the Baby- Murphy

I also wrote up my own mini story about the colors black and white and sang as I turned the pages.

Flannel Story: I Went Walking (w/black & white animals)

I went walking.
What did you see?
I saw a ZEBRA
looking at me!

Repeat with cow, skunk, penguin and pandas as they are placed on the felt board one at a time.

Then, I finished with:

I went walking.
What did you see?
I saw black and white animals
looking at me.

A nice group of about 20 babies today. I will miss next week due to vacation so that is sad.

Hector, one of my babies that attends almost every week, is leaving for six months so he brought me flowers -- so thoughtful!
