baby & me: chick me out!

Today, our baby theme was CHICKS!

Mystery Box:
Inside the yellow box, there was a white egg shape made from felt. When we turned it over, we saw a cute yellow chick.

Peekaboo Farm
Charlie the Chick- Denchfield (loved by both the babies and the moms!)
On the Farm- Elliott/Meade (We sang “Old MacDonald had a Farm” as we read a few pages of this book, love it!)

Flannel Story: 1,2 Buckle My Shoe/Sleepy Chicks

1,2 Buckle my shoe
3,4 Shut the door
5,6 Pick up the sticks
7,8, Lay them straight

9,10 a big fat hen!

After the nursery rhyme ended with the big fat hen, I showed the group my other big hen made from felt and we followed up with another short rhyme from Flannel Friday last week. You can find this flannel board on a blog called Fun with Friends At Storytime.

Sleepy Chicks

"Come little children,"
calls mother hen.
"It's time to take your nap again."

So under her feathers the small chicks creep,
and she clucks a song till they fall asleep.

Puppet: Little Chick in an Egg

Little Chick waits in an egg of white
Curled up cozy and oh so tight
Then he taps out a hole with his beak beak beak
And he pops from his shell with a squeak squeak squeak!

We had another nice crowd today with 16 moms and 18 babies!
